Venice is truly a magiacal experience. I have to admit, I did not give it enough of a chance the forst time I went. After visiting again I realized the mistakes I made. I read over and over again you only need 2-3 nights to experience Venice. While this may be true, I would not recommend this being the first destination on your Italian journey. Additionally, I recommend staying in the heart of Venice. Staying outside thinking it can save you money is actually a costly mistake. Not only does it cost you time, but you have to also pay for the train and water taxi once you are there and it just becomes exhausting and overwhelming. If you are going to Venice, I recommend this being at the end of your trip and stay on the Island itself.
