Fun facts about tulips!

how-to-visit-amsterdam-tulips.jpg

Tulips are such beautiful flowers, and there is no shortage of them in Amsterdam!

Before you visit Amsterdam, here are some interesting facts about tulips.

●  Vincent Van Gogh had an extraordinary fascination with nature, but believe it or not, he never painted a single tulip in his life.

●  Back in the 17th century, a tulip mania took place in the Netherlands. Some species of these tulips were so expensive they costed more than a house, and it's impressive to have tulips in your home. It's like a parked Ferrari in your garage today.

●  Every year, there are around 2 billion tulips exported from the Netherlands.

●  Each year, you can come to Dam Square and pick one of 200,000 colorful tulips in a specially constructed garden. This happens every third Saturday of January to celebrate the launch of the Tulip season.

●  Tulips come in pretty much all colors of the rainbow except blue. Blue tulips are made real by Photoshop.

Budgeting for Iceland

Iceland travel tip…

Iceland is far from a budget destination, and prices vary depending on the time of year you visit, with the peak summer months tending to be much more expensive than the quieter winter months.

reykjavik-gq-22jun18_istock_b.jpg

Don’t let the prices detour you!

  • A mid-range hotel room will generally be in the region of $80 – $150 a night, and this will often include breakfast.

  • Car hire costs will vary depending on the type of vehicle you hire. Expect to pay $50 – $150 a day, and don’t forget to factor in the cost of the various insurance options. Gas is quite expensive.

  • Food is a real budget-killer in Iceland. Even burgers from gas stations will be in the range of $10 – $15, whilst a sit-down meal at a restaurant will have prices in the range of $30 – $50 for a main course.

The good news is that many of the attractions themselves, and particularly the natural attractions like waterfalls and national parks, are free to visit.

climate iceland-feature.jpg

10 things to do in Iceland

Would you like a list of things you could do while vacationing in Iceland? Take part in some or all of these activities to make your trip unforgettable!

  1. Whale Watching Tour

There are many tours available that allow you to see whales as well as puffins. You can engage with Naturalists and experience rare sightings that will leave you in awe. It is best to whale watch in the summer months, preferably April through September. Minke whales are the most common in Iceland. Follow the instructions carefully and be safe.

2. Blue Lagoon Spa

This mineral-rich attraction is minutes from the Keflavik International airport. There are many spa options available due to the geothermic forces and many natural elements. The lagoon is human-made and renewed every two days with fresh water. You can easily access the site via car or bus.

bluelagoon.jpg

3. West Fjords

Located in a famous peninsula, the Fjords are breathtaking. You need to plan well and leave time to explore all this area has to offer. They have great attractions. You can visit a myriad of unique sites, such as the Icelandic Sea Monster Museum or the famous Látrabjarg cliff. There is much to experience in this mountainous, remote area. You will have options that will keep you interested while on your expedition.

west fjords iceland.jpg

4. Skogafoss

The perfect place for you to get a shot with a double rainbow, Skogafoss, is the most scenic fall in Iceland. With a drop of over 60 meters, the view is spectacular. There is also a legend of gold that lies within the falls. Take your chance and search if you dare…

1.Seljalandsfoss Waterfalls.jpg

5. Silfra

Silfra is an amazing diving spot located in Thingvellir National Park. It is the crevice between the tectonic plates in North America and Eurasian continents. It is the only place in the world where you can dive between two tectonic plates that shift roughly 2 cm every year. The shifting of the earth creates new caverns and tunnels. There is plenty of wildlife to see on your dive/snorkel. The three main dive sites are; Silfra Hall, Silfra Cathedral, and Silfra Lagoon. The maximum depth is about 207 feet. The water is the purest in the world, and you can feel free to take a sip while diving.

SnorkelinginSilfraFissure.jpg

6. Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights)

This site is at the top of many lists. However, you need to know the best possible location to view this wonder. Thingvellir is by far the finest area to see this wonder. Be sure you check the weather so that you have a combination of dark and partially clear skies. Thingvellir is a national park, as well as a historic site. It doubles as a great tourist selection for you to see a rare vision as well as gain some insight into the history of the land.

aurora-borealis-2173562_960_720.jpg

7. Holuhraun

This is a relatively new site that you can visit located in the Highlands of Iceland. You will need a 4WD to reach the landscape, and be sure you get a high-quality vehicle that is equipped to travel on the unique terrain. Holuhraun is the newest formed lava flow from a volcano that lasted from August 2014 through February 2015. When peering into the rifts of the lava, you see many beautifully vivid colors. While driving along the sand, you can still see steam in certain areas. It is a geological wonder to behold. Be careful and stay on the marked paths, and to wear gloves when handling any lava rocks.

holuhraun_iceland_hiticeland.jpg

8. Reynisfjara Beach

This beach is gorgeous and an absolute must-see! With its rare black sand and basalt columns, there is much to explore on this volcanic shoreline. The black sand is lava that cooled once it hit the water, and the sand is more like various small stones. White sand and red sand beaches (Westfjords) also exist in Iceland. While on Reynisfjara, you can see Gardar, which is a basalt cliff that resembles a staircase to heaven. It is a natural pyramid and was formed by columnar jointing. There are many basalt columns throughout Iceland, but this is by far the most exceptional.

Reynisfjara-Beach-Islanda-SLIDER.jpg

9. Party in Reykjavik

This small town has the best party spots in Iceland, hands down! There are multiple bars and restaurants to choose from. None of the businesses charge a cover, and the music is fantastic!

Reykjavik-nightlife2.jpg

10. Seljavallalaug

This natural pool is one of the oldest in Iceland, and you will surely have a memorable experience when visiting. The water is not that hot because it does mix with colder water.

No matter who you are traveling with, there is something for everyone to do and see while in Turkey!

Shopping

shopping in dubai.jpg

At the crossroads of Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, Turkey has long been a hub for trading, bringing exotic goods and spices to the area. The influence of foreign cultures greatly impacted the design and culture of Turkey. Walk through the bazaars, and you'll see the global influence of the region's now distinctive designs. These markets are the best place to pick up souvenirs for your friends or even items to decorate your home. Pick up lamps, rugs, and coffee sets to bring a little bit of Turkey back home with you.

9 - get to know a culture through local markets.jpg

Visit Istanbul's spice bazaar, and you'll see why Turkey is famous for its spices. Stacks and stacks of freshly ground spices line the aisles of this historical bazaar and wow visitors with their aromas and colors. The use of spices and herbs is essential in Turkish cooking. Turkish cuisine is known for its bold flavors and rich taste. Spices like cumin, mint, and oregano play an important role in bringing out the flavor of the main ingredient rather than hiding it behind sauces.

Hot-Air Balloon Rides

Sunset View Point.jpg

You must take a balloon ride!  This is an experience best done at dawn. A minibus will take you from your hotel to the boarding spot, where you’ll hop on a balloon with more than a dozen other passengers. Start your day gliding past treetops and canyon walls. It will be one of the highlights of your trip and an experience to remember.

This small stretch of golden sand is ticket quietly at the bottom of a steep gorge looking out over the mesmerizing blue waters of the Mediterranean. Rose Valley:

You might get a little lost hiking in the Red and Rose Valleys of Cappadocia — the signage is unclear — but the scenery will be worth it. There is the natural beauty of blue skies, green valleys and red and white rock, with some graffiti sprinkled in between. You’ll be tired, but in a good way, after exploring these beautiful paths.

Ihlara Valley.jpg

Ihlara Valley:

You will also want to explore the peaceful Ihlara Valley. Commune with the birds and frogs that feed on the river that runs through it. But the real treat of hiking this valley is the rest stop that offers a place for you to sit and enjoy the scenery. And the family that operates it even serves Turkish tea! It's delicious!

pigeon-valley-trail-hike-goreme-cappadocia-01028.jpg.optimal.jpg

Pigeon Valley:

This hike takes you through the popular Pigeon Valley, Uchisar Castle and White Valley. You’ll be treated to the sight of phallic rock formations at the end of the walk through White Valley in an area called Love Valley. Rock columns dot the landscape and the massive structures are breath-taking. Be sure to bring your camera!

Initially, the island was known as Kallístē, meaning "the most beautiful one" before it was called Santorini.

See Ireland by Car

The best sites in the Emerald Isle are seen via public transportation or tour buses, but renting a car is not a bad idea to get to those obscure sites. Be sure the vehicle you rent is a small one, as rural roads in Ireland are narrow. Oh, and the Irish drive on the left side of the road and pass on the right.

travel-around-ireland-bg-new1.jpg

Driving in Ireland takes a certain amount of skill. For Americans and Canadians, there’s the whole other-side-of-the-car, other side-of-the-road thing to contend with — just remember to stay left, and you’ll be alright. On highways, there are typically two to three lanes; rarely will you find monster four- or five-lane thoroughfares in Ireland. As on most European highways, the fast lane — which is always on the right — is used solely for passing slower traffic.

ireland-road-trip.jpg

If you are needing ideas of things to see while driving around in Ireland, then here is the list for you!

The Best Irish Road Trip

1: Spend Time Exploring Dublin To Begin Your Ireland Road Trip

2: Enjoy Rock Of Cashel And Hore Abbey

3: Visit Cork, Cobh, And Blarney Estate In Ireland Ancient East

4: Explore Killarney For Some Of The Best Drives

5: Visit The Breathtaking Dingle Peninsula, One Of The Best Ireland Road Trip Drives

6: Check The Cliffs Of Moher Off Your Bucket List

7: Drop By Doolin For Picture Perfect Irish Charm

8: Experience Westport And Achill Island

9: Explore The Slieve League Cliffs And Bad Eddie’s Boat In Co. Donegal

10: Finish Your Trip By Exploring Belfast And The Causeway Coast

Does this road trip intrigue you? Well then grab your license, driving gloves, and then click the button below to start planning your trip.

The Great Outdoors of Ireland

From lush glens and magical canal banks, to daredevil cliff paths and quaint city quarters – when it comes to walking and hiking, Ireland has got you covered. Being an island, Ireland naturally offers unique opportunities for coastal walks. The Wild Atlantic Way and Causeway Coast are stand-out locations, but don't overlook the likes of the stunning Beara, Dingle, and Inishowen Peninsulas – each nicely varied with mountainous paths for adventurous souls, as well as gentler terrain. There's also the Copper Coast in the south east, a breathtaking shoreline of cliffs, coves, and sea stacks, named after the mining industry that once prospered there. Special mention, too, for the hilly routes around Achill Island, County Mayo.

#9 Ireland is a great destination for adventure travel e.g.hiking, cycling, climbing hiking, r.jpg

Mountains

Mountains in Ireland come in many shapes and sizes, but they all come beautifully. The Mourne Mountains boast a host of heavenly hikes. The Wicklow and Kerry Ways traverse stunning mountainscapes with plenty of calmer stretches. Walks and hikes in these verdant surrounds are dealt a dash of color, thanks to the area's mythical heritage. For every step you take, a fairy, a warrior, a banshee, or a ghost has taken it before you. Keep it quirky with bog walks in the likes of Tipperary, Laois, Offaly, and Connemara. They are prettily planned with wooden walkways to keep you away from the stickiest terrain.

Things to do Outdoors in Ireland

Want to see the beauty of Ireland on your trip there? Ireland is a great place to get outside! Here are some ideas of things you could do and experience on your next trip to Ireland.

Golf

Ireland is a golfer’s paradise, with world-class courses in some spectacular places. With over 300 golf clubs and a selection of exceptional championship courses in unusual locations, every year over 240,000 from all over the world come to experience these impressive but unforgiving fairways. Most of Ireland’s trails are open all year round. However, classes are in best condition and weather is most suitable for golfing from April to October. In summer, daylight hours can stretch up to 10 pm so two rounds of lazy lunch can easily fit into a day.

golf course.jpg

Explore Ireland via city and village walking tours with local expert guides

A Historical Walking Tour is a must for a city like Dublin that wears on its sleeve a great deal of history, spanning from the times of Viking settlement to modern days.

You can also combine educational with recreational on the entertaining crawl through Dublin's pubs that have inspired great Irish writers. A walking tour is an excellent introduction to Dublin's rich literary heritage with a chance to enjoy a few pints along the way.

Make London your next vacation destination!

How long does it actually take to get to London?

london-parliament.jpg

Great question! And I’ve got some answers for you. Let’s talk about flights.

airline.jpg

The flight time from New York to London is about 7.5 hours. The return flight time from London to New York is about 8.5 hours. The flight time from the west coast, specifically Los Angeles is approximately 11.5 hours, and 10 hours from Vancouver. In general, flights from Europe to the US take longer than flights from the US to Europe due to differences in tailwinds and headwinds. Supersonic planes once only took 3.5 hours to cross the pond but since the end of the Concorde era there have been no more. We hope to see them again soon though! Imagine deciding to go to London at lunch time and being there by dinner!

How long should you spend in London?

experience.jpg

For travelers who are passing through town for a good time not a long time, try to stay in the area you want to explore (or at least close by). This will save you time and money traveling across the city every day. If you’re not sure what you’ll be doing or seeing in London I can help. Together we can figure out the types of places and activities that will be of interest to you and using my travel industry experience I can present you with accommodation options to suit your style, budget and location.

London Weather

london weather.jpg

London (and England) is stunning at any time of year. Of course there are things that you can only see and do in certain seasons for example winter might be colder but the crowds are smaller, the lines shorter and the Christmas spirit is high. Summer of course allows you to swim, enjoy more of the outdoors and try different foods. No matter which season you choose to visit, the climate is relatively temperate and, in general, doesn't experience extremes during either summer or winter. Overall, spring (late March to early June) and autumn (September to November) are the best times to visit, when it's usually warm and dry.

Climate

The climate is influenced by the ocean, and is therefore cool, humid and rainy, with Atlantic fronts passing one after the other throughout the year, and bringing variable weather, with cloudiness, rains and showers, which alternate, at least in spring and summer, with a few hours of sunshine.

spring-london-waterloo-bridge-blossom.jpg
london gardens.jpg

The best time to visit London is the summer, or more generally from mid-May to mid-September: temperatures are generally good for outdoors activities, although it's better to bring an umbrella, and a sweatshirt or sweater for the evening or for cool days. In summer you can hope to find a period of good weather, with warm days, in which the maximum temperature is above 25 °C (77 °F), or can even approach 30 °C (86 °F), and in which you can remove the outer layers of clothing, stroll in the numerous parks of the city and even sunbathe.

Language

The largest number of community languages in Europe can be found in the United Kingdom. Over 300 languages are currently spoken in London schools. The official language of the United Kingdom is English, which is spoken by approximately 59.8 million residents, or 98% of the population, over the age of three.

speaking.jpg

Brits and Americans might speak the same language, but there are plenty of British words, phrases, and slang that mean something totally different in America. Different words, different pronunciations, and different spellings have created two distinct separations in the English language: British English and American English. Here are a few tips to keep you out of trouble...Don't ask a British person about their pants. You'll get a very funny look, and maybe even a slap round the face, because you'll be inquiring about their underwear and not their trousers. When British people refer to an anorak in conversation, there's a good chance they're not talking about a coat you wear in the rain.

Romance is in the Air!

romantic.jpg

London is honestly one of the most romantic cities in the world.

The steady bustle but without all the noise of New York, the excitement, the history, the beautiful architecture… and no matter where you end up, there’s always something exciting and new to see or do. There’s hints of all its 2000 year history everywhere you look, whether it be the London Wall, Whitechapel, Westminster Palace, the Docklands and Canary Wharf, or the grungy vibe in Camden Town. You don’t have to be a newlywed although it’s a wonderful honeymoon destination. You don’t have to be celebrating an anniversary, but that’s a good idea too. London is just a perfect city for any couple wanting to reconnect.

10 Sweet Treats to Eat While Visiting Paris

Paris is sweet on the eye, sweet on the romance and sweet on the palette.

paris-macarons-1.jpg

It is a sugar lovers' dream, and the only problem you'll have when it comes to the delectable French desserts is which one to choose. To help you navigate that yummy last course, we've broken down the top 10 must-try desserts for your visit to France. And if you have to eat more than one a day to get through them? Well, c'est la vie!

tartes aux fruit.jpg

1. The Tartes Aux Fruits

The tartes aux fruits are prepared with fresh fruit inside a buttery pastry. The fruit sits atop a heavenly Chantilly cream. You can enjoy these tartes in both miniature and pie sizes.

2. The Éclair

The éclair is a popular dessert in Paris. The long French choux pastry can be filled with either a rich custard or pastry cream and topped with a sweet fondant. By definition, the term éclair means lightning in French. Go figure!

Paris-Brest.jpg

3. The Paris Brest

This pastry was created to celebrate the Paris to Brest bicycle ride in 1891. Naturally, it's circular and contains praline flavored crème and choux pastry.

12 why macarons are the best low calorie dessert.jpg

4. Macaron

Cupcakes have been the dessert trend for the past few years but finally, for the sake of our waist line, macarons are now the new trend. Macarons are dainty cream-filled sandwich cookies. There are so many flavors to choose from. The base ingredients include meringue and almonds. Although not necessarily “healthy” they are certainly lighter and contain fewer calories than cupcakes. One macaron has from 70-100 calories, while one cupcake has close to 400 calories. One and done!

*Be sure to not confuse it with coconut macaroons, in which the English added the -oon to the word in the 16th century.  Macarons are not to be confused with their similar-name-sister-cookie, macaroons (in which the English added the -oon to the word in the 16th century), which are coconut clusters with a crisp exterior and chewy texture. Give yourself a sumptuous treat in Paris! Be sure to try macarons from Ladurée.

5. The Tarte Au Citron

Tarte Au Citron, also known as the lemon tart, are also very popular. Donning a pastry crust and delicious lemon filling. The filling, however, is not made with fruit. The cream is a mixture containing lemon juice, lemon zest, and of course, eggs and sugar.

Mille_Feuille_600x400.jpg

6. The Mille Feuille

This fluffy treat comes in a vanilla or custard slice and consists of several layers of puff pastry. Between the puff pastry lies an additional two layers of pastry crème. Another name for the Mille Feuille is Napoleon.

7. The Tarte Tatin

Named after the hotel that serves the dessert (Hotel Tatin), the tarte Tatin is a unique upside-down pastry. Its ingredients include caramelized fruit prepared with sugar and butter. It pairs famously with a bit of tart crème Fraiche.

8. The Choux à La Crème

These cream puffs are created using puff pastry as well. They swell while cooking and are hollow. The oozing center can be either whipped cream or custard. Interestingly enough, once you add chocolate as your topping, it then becomes a profiterole. There are various toppings you can add to this pastry, from ice cream to fruit and even spun caramel.

8 the history of french toast - fun fact.jpg

9. French Toast

The origins of french toast are not entirely clear, but long before this sweet snack was called “french toast," similar recipes were being whipped up all around the world. One of the earliest versions of french toast has been traced back to the Roman Empire. The name “french toast" was first used in 17th-century England. The recipe and name were brought to America by early settlers. In France, the dish is called “pain perdu," meaning “lost bread." Why lost bread? Originally, people made French toast from stale bread in order to make use of bread that would otherwise have been thrown away.

10. The Petits Four

Translated, petit four means small oven, and are also known as mignardises. The fours are little bite-sized pastries that can also be savory if you choose. The sweet option includes a sugary glaze atop a crispy biscuit. These pastries are perfect for tea parties.

Culture

Paris is the center of art, fashion, food and architecture. As one of the world’s leading cultural centers, it is home to many cultural icons like museums and monuments. French Wine

So why is French wine just so good? One of the factors may be the winemakers' skills, inherited from centuries-old tradition. Another important aspect is the terroir which means a set of natural factors, in the case of France, the terroir makes the country's regions excellent for wine production as to produce the best in the world. The climate is also a big influence.

Whether you are a fan of wine or not, you definitely have to try out the French wine!

Amsterdam has been tagged with the reputation of a party central over the years. Although it's a small city, there are a lot of things to do and see for just about anyone.

family-kids-amsterdam.jpg

Amsterdam is a very appropriate city to travel with children. In Amsterdam, parents ride their bikes with the kids, the parks serve as a backyard for many children and taking your kids with you to dine in a restaurant, or a food market is the most common thing to do. This makes this city a kid-friendly destination for a city trip!

family-holidays-to-amsterdam.jpg

Bike Around Amsterdam

It's best to explore the narrow, winding streets of Amsterdam's historic 17th-century city center by bike. There are up to 400 kilometers of bicycle paths leading just about everywhere in town, and it's no surprise that Amsterdam is a true cycling city. Renting a bike to get around town will surely acquaint you with the local scenery plus it's a cheaper option for public transport. Don't hesitate to ask expert guides and rental shops on how to get around the city as they offer great advice to inexperienced bikers.

Did you know?: There are around 800,000 bicycles in Amsterdam because the Dutch love cycling. But some can be considered a bit reckless with the bikes because every year, more than 10,000 bikes are fished out from different canals.

Dam Square

In the 13th century, Dam Square was created when a dam was built around the river Amstel to stop the waters from the Zuiderzee sea from flooding the city. In the 1960s, the square was famous for its Dam Square hippies. Presently, it is one of the main tourist sights, and you can expect lots of entertainment. Just a five-minute walk down the Damrak from Central Station takes you into this crowded square. There is always a lot going on, like food stalls, restaurants, and shops galore, which include the trendy Bijenkorf, Magna Plaza, and the Amsterdam Diamond Centre.

Amsterdam takes great pride in its bulb flowers, especially tulips. Visit the amazingly vibrant bulb flower park in Lisse if you wish to see the tulips in all their glory. If you happen to miss the tulip season, don't worry. There are plenty of bulbed flowers that grow year-round at the park.

3. Visit one of the many spectacular art museums or history museums

Check out paintings by Rembrandt, Van Gogh, or other world-renowned artists or revisit history by walking into the Anne Frank House, where you can see the secret annex where Anne hid during World War II.

Walkthrough De Wallen.jpg

4. Walkthrough De Wallen, the nation's red-light district

Although it's famous for some risky behavior, there is much more to the city. Try out one of the district's fine restaurants, small boutiques, or find more responsible entertainment at any of the places not lit up with red lights. For a faster way to venture through, rent a bicycle. You'll find that you rent a bike nearly anywhere in the country.

Filipino Food...a unique and tasty sensation!

The history of Filipino food dates back to the pre-Spanish era, the Malay introduction of boiling, roasting and steaming of the livestock and seafood they have. The Spanish settlers during the Spanish era also introduced many spices that are now common in Filipino food. Of course, there are still the original Filipino dishes which can only be found here in the Philippines. These are the ones invented over the years by Filipinos from different regions. Then of course what you should really try is the exotic street foods like taho, kwek-kwek, betamax and balut.

Experience rich culture in Filipino delicacies!

filipino dishes.jpg

If you are like me and love to “eat your way” through places you travel, then I highly suggest you taking a look at these food and drink recommendations for the Philippines!

Foods To Try

  • Adobo: the famous Filipino dish

  • Lechon: Fully roasted pig

  • Dinuguan: Dark-tinted Filipino stew

  • Tapsilog: Filipino comfort dish

  • Balut: duck embryo street food snack

  • Kare Kare: oxtail stew

  • Kinilaw: raw fish salad

  • Sinigang: sour meat stew

  • Lomi: noodle dish

  • Sotanghon: Noodle dish

  • Mami: Noodle soup

  • Halo halo: a cheeky desert

  • Champorado: chocolate rice pudding

Chicken Adobo

Chicken Adobo 2.jpg

This is hands down the national dish! A great tasting simple Ilocano cuisine that includes pepper, soy sauce, garlic, bay leaves, and vinegar. You can swap the chicken out for seafood, beef, or pork. It is simply delightful.

Balut

Balut.jpg

Known as a boiled fertilized duck egg, is an interesting dish that is popular in the Philippines. The embryo is typical street food and is considered to be an aphrodisiac.

Here are some of the noodle dish in the Philippines you need to try:

lomi+noodles.jpg

Lomi

Lomi is best eaten while steaming hot. It is a challenge to be able to finish eating before the bowl gets cold. To spice up the taste, depending on one's preference, a mixture of soy sauce, calamansi juice and crushed fresh red chili peppers can be added to the dish as a condiment. The same soy sauce mixture can also be used as a dipping sauce for the meatballs, kikiam and pieces of meat.

Sotanghon.jpg

Sotanghon

The noodles are called a similar name: sotanghon because of the popular dish of the same name made from them using chicken and wood ears.

BeefMami-.jpg

Beef Mami

A noodle soup similar to the Chinese variety, with beef, pork, chicken, or wanton garnish and topped with chives. Usually thin egg noodles are used, but there are versions using flat rice noodles.

For a TASTY TREAT, you need to try Champorado

Champorado is a Filipino chocolate rice porridge that is traditionally served for breakfast. Chocolate for breakfast may sound like a dream, but there’s a caveat. It’s typically served with tuyo (dried salted fish). Champorado may perhaps be the original chocolate cereal as it is quite literally a "chocolate cereal". it can be likened to a warm bowl of oatmeal crossed with a chocolate bar. While chocolate is the main ingredient of this dish, it’s not very sweet. Rather, this porridge highlights the complexities of dark chocolate. Much of the sweetness and creaminess comes from the milk drizzled on top. I’m sure you want to start packing and have a taste of this Filipino dish right?

1 - must try Champorado.jpg

To quench your thirst, don’t forget to try these Filipino Drinks while in the Philippines!

Drinks To Try

Religion

Religion holds a central place in the life of most Filipinos, including Catholics, Muslims, Buddhists, Protestants, and animists. It is central not as an abstract belief system, but rather as a host of experiences, rituals, ceremonies, and adjurations that provide continuity in life, cohesion in the community, and moral purpose for existence. Religious associations are part of the system of kinship ties, patron client bonds, and other linkages outside the nuclear family. Three out of four Filipinos consider their religion to be “very important,” according to the latest survey of the Social Weather Stations Inc. (SWS).
